
In this blog we'll talk about the necessary steps to post your podcast to apple podcasts. Don't worry, you only need to do this once. 

Apple podcasts has by far the largest portion of the podcast listening space, so if you want your podcast to do good, Apple podcasts is a must.

However, apple has a very specific set of requirements, and you can't just go there and post your podcast directly, that's why platforms like Podcast Solutions exist. If you're able to go through are publishing process there's really not much you have to do. But here are the requirements.

## Step by step guide

Go to the [Apple Podcasts Connect website](https://podcastsconnect.apple.com/login) login and setup your account.

Select **Add a show with an RSS feed** and click **Next**.

Copy and paste your RRS Feed from Podcast Solution's home page and click **Add**.

Let Apple Podcasts Connect process and validate your show details. Sometimes it takes one more back and next to make it work. The validation should take ~30 minutes, but can sometimes take a few hours.

If it takes more than 24 hours, reach out to Apple Podcast Support.

**If you add a show without an RSS Feed you will start creating an Apple Podcasts Subscription. You’ll need to pay $19.99 to join the Apple Podcasters Program. While your podcast is being processed you can go ahead and fill your Content Rights information.

Once you save you're going to be given the option to Publish.

After you publish and your podcast's been approved, you'll receive an email letting you know that your podcast is available on Apple Podcasts.

## Requirements

The first requirement is to have a Spotify account. It does't need to be a premium one. Just try **using that same email** inside your podcast details on Podcast solutions to avoid issues.

The second requirement is an RSS Feed, Spotify being a directory means that they don't host your podcast themselves, instead they rely on other platforms to do so.

If you get your Podcast to a published status in Podcast Solutions, that means you're ready to list your Podcast.

## Listing your RSS Feed

1. Create a Spotify account if you haven't already.
2. Go to [Spotify’s podcast website](https://podcasters.spotify.com/dash/submit), and click Get Started.
3. Paste the link to your RSS Feed. You can find a copy button in your Podcast Solution's home screen.

Your podcast then will go through a verification process that could last up to 48 hours. After that you'll be able to access your podcast through their dashboard. And continue publishing through Podcast Solutions.

Keep in mind that Spotify checks your feed every 24 hours, so expect your changes to be reflected within that time.

And lastly don't forget to update your directories page inside Podcasts Solutions so it can appear on your "Listen on" links.

### What's an RSS Feed?

An RSS Feed is nothing more than a long XML file that holds information. It's pretty similar to what an HTML file is. If you're not familiar with either one, you can think of it as the building blocks that make your Podcast's feed, there are blocks for each episode, and each episode then has blocks for  their audio files which includes information such as their duration and filetype.
